WeMachines vs Coda
Coda's idea is that a doc can be an app: tables that are real databases, formulas, buttons, Packs that pull data in. If you like building, it is a superpower. WeMachines has the opposite instinct. Nothing is assembled. When we need a tool, we describe it and an agent builds it.
Building versus describing
In Coda you are the builder. You design the tables, write the formulas, wire the buttons, and then you maintain it, because a doc-app drifts the moment the team changes how it works. In WeMachines you type what the tool should do. An agent builds it as an App, hosts it on its own address, gives it its own database and API when it needs one, and keeps changing it with you in a thread. Every turn is a numbered version you can roll back to or export. Our CRM, our PostHog dashboard and our deploy monitor each started as one message, and we spend zero time on development, hosting or maintenance.
Docs
Our docs are collaborative pages in a folder tree, and the AI writes and edits them in place. Ask for a page in chat, "our biggest competitors", "Q3 plan at a glance", and it writes one for the whole team in seconds, with tables, charts and live task widgets that keep themselves current. Comment on a sentence, mention the AI in the thread, and it answers about that sentence.
AI
Coda AI writes, fills tables and answers questions about the doc it is in. The AI in WeMachines reads the chat, the tasks, the docs, the polls, the huddle transcripts and the recent commits, and then it does the work. Assign it a task and a cloud agent works your repo and opens the pull request you review. Press ⌘O and brief it by voice. Routines run on a cadence or on a webhook and post the result into a channel. We run all of it on 200+ models, plug and play, with zero data retention.
Tickets
Most Coda teams build a task table and a person keeps it tidy. We never write tickets ourselves. The AI files a task from the thread that needs one and moves it as the work progresses. The Claude Code, Cursor or Codex in a teammate's terminal joins the same board over MCP, free on every plan, and shows up live in the sidebar while it works. Finished tasks delete themselves after 14 days.
Amazing context
A Coda team keeps its docs in Coda, its conversation in a chat tool, its calls somewhere else and its code on GitHub, and Coda AI sees the doc. In WeMachines everything is one place, every channel is public and there are no DMs, so the agents see the whole company and nobody briefs them. Huddles are transcribed and written up. Polls sit in the conversation that prompted them.
Where Coda is ahead
The builder's toolkit. Formulas, buttons, Packs and the craft of a well-made doc-app are things Coda does better than anyone, and its pricing charges the people who make docs rather than everyone who reads them. A team with a builder who enjoys crafting internal tools out of documents, and does not ship software, will be happier in Coda.
